Mitira means “mother” in the local Lesbian dialect.

We pay homage to mother earth, as well as to every mother who nurtures her child with love and affection.

Our Olive Grove

The Karali family olive grove dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Our estate is located on a small hill overlooking the Mytilene port. Taking advantage of the soil’s rich limestone substrate, our olive trees grow amphitheatrically on man-made stone terraces, forming a magnificent sight.

Today, continuing our ancestors’ tradition...

we harvest our trees with the same amount of love and respect for our land, which reciprocates by offering us it’s best fruit.

Our Olive Oil

The cultivation and processing of our olive oil is completely organic. In order to ensure our olive oil’s low acidity level, premature olives are carefully hand-picked before being pressed via the method of cold-extraction. The oil press we partner with holds strict health and hygiene standards and is certified according to the quality standards of ISO 22000:2005 while holding additional certifications, ISO/TS22002-1:2009 and FSSC 22000 for the bottling of olive oil.

THIS IS MITIRA, OUR ORGANIC EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Gold-colored, smooth-tasting, aromatic, comprised of a mix between the Kolovi and Adramitiani variety, both unique to the island of Lesvos.

Employing the method of cold-extraction allows for the production of a supreme olive oil, as its composition is free from exposure to high temperatures and additive substances, thus preserving the beneficial antioxidants and nutritional elements of the olive oil.

OUR OLIVE OIL MEETS THE LONG-STANDING TRADITION OF LESVOS’ OLIVE OIL PRODUCTION

It’s a tribute to our family who kept our olive grove alive for more than 100 years.

Lesvos

Lesvos’ ancient history can be traced back as far as 4,000 B.C. Home to some of Greece’s most famous intellectuals, the island’s contribution to the arts is remarkable. Notable artists from Lesvos include ancient poet Sappho, noble prize winner Elytis, prose writers Marivilis and Venezis as well as talented painters such as Theophilos and Iakovidis. Lesvos is equally gifted in natural beauty, with a prodigious amount of olive trees and pine trees contributing to its majestic scenery. Moreover, due to its fertile land surrounded by sea, Lesvos is also distinct for its culinary tradition as wellas for its food products such as Ladotyri, Feta, salted seafood, etc.

“Nowhere, in no other place of the world, do Helios and Selene reign harmoniously...

divide so fairly their power,as on this piece of earth which once, who knows in what improbable times, God, for his pleasure, cut out and blew afar, like a plane tree’s leaf, to the middle of the sea.“ Odysseus Elytis
